October 28 - November 3, 2010

We are back in Utah trying to get everything done on the trailer so we can leave on November 3. We could leave earlier, but I want to spend my birthday with family. We get the trailer registered in Tooele. We drop off the hitch so we can get the ball fixed and the stabilizing pins fixed as they don't hold the sway bars in. We then go to Wally World and do some shopping. The guy at the garage calls us and tells us they have to cut the ball off because they can't tighten it down. His wife will be bringing it from Salt Lake City, so it will be about an hour before he is finished. There is a bookstore by Macey's, across the street from Wally World, that I want to go check, to see if they have the new song book with pictures and Christmas Songs. Those books are really beautiful and have the information about who wrote it, why, and the history of it. They are a real treasure to have. We ask the lady there and no, they don't have it yet. I'm bummed. We look around the store but nothing else grabs my attention.
We decide to walk on down to Macey's to see if we can get some "Rock Candy". We ask one of the store workers and she looks at us like we're aliens and doesn't understand us. The lady with her says if they have any it will be this way, and precedes to lead us to the area in question. I tell her it's bought by the weight and she tells us that it would be at the end of the isle if they have any. We get down to the end and JACK POT! We find all the bulk candy plus the rock candy which is called "candied stones" something to that effect. We get us a bag and start loading it up. We weight it and it doesn't quite meet an equal amount, say like 1 lb., so we put more in it. Weight again, darn, went pass an equal amount. Add more, weight it again, it's a little over 3 lbs, but that's okay. I figure with all the people eating it, it is a good amount. Our kids are addicted to it. Come reunion time, they are on the lookout for that stuff. Insert warning here for relatives; hide your rock candy from my children, come reunion time. We pick up a few other items and then head on over to pick up our hitch. They have put on a shiny new ball and fixed the sway bar hook ups so they will stay in. We hope that everything is now ready for traveling.
Coming home from Tooele one night after spending time with Martha and family we saw these two mule deers in the middle of town. It was awesome to see and hoping they could find their way back home without getting hit.
Drew spent some more time helping to split wood with Bob Snider and my brother Roger. We needed to go there to use their Internet and I stay on longer than he does, so he spends his time helping out. Isn't he a sweetie!
Delores and Robert (my oldest sister and hubby) invite us down for my birthday dinner. It was really good. I find that I am sadly lacking in preparing meals. Everyone includes salads, breads, vegetables and what nots and Drew is lucky just to get something to eat. When we have spaghetti, we have spaghetti. Not Delores, not my Alta, not my sister Alta, not my Mom, the list could go on, but I don't want to make myself look any worse. They all fix wonderful, FULL meals, with dessert. I have no problem with the dessert. That's always a given, thus the fluffy grandmotherly figure. Okay, back to the night in question. We had a lovely dinner and were just getting ready to go into the living room to visit when there is a knock on the door. It is Eddie and his family (Eddie is Delores' son) come to share Family Home Evening with us. (It is Monday night.) They have a sweet family. Their youngest, Christopher (I believe that is his name. Forgive me if I'm wrong.) was in charge of conducting FHE and giving the lesson. He asked different people to do the prayers, he lead the music when we sang and introduced everything that was to go on for FHE. He did an excellent job. He is under eight years old and he was awesome. After the closing prayer, everyone sang happy birthday to me. We played a game for a little bit. It was a really special birthday for me. The spirit was strong there and you could fill the love in the room. Being a school night, they had to leave right after. We continued to visit and have dessert. A most enjoyable evening was had. All too soon it was time to leave. I made sure that I got pictures of the turtles Delores made from rocks and painted. I would have taken one, had it not been so heavy. She does such an awesome job of painting; on canvas and rocks. Who knew rocks had such personally?
We get our wash done and get everything packed into the trailer and car. We are learning a new routine that will be our live for awhile of how to set up and take down the trailer so we can move. We try working like a team and it isn't so bad. Tomorrow is the day we leave Dodge, wagon and horses ready and biting the bit to be on their way. To explore new horizons, to go to states never before seen by our wagon. Into the clear blue yonder and hopefully warmer weather. To step where.......I'm starting to sound corny so I'll stop. lol
